Angel of the Month

Angels of the Pavilion Gabriel

For this month's angel, Rosemary writes:

On a coral-red background, a duo of stylized angels meld with the neo-classical decor of the Pavilion Gabriel, a former café theatre bordering the Jardin des Ambassadeurs.  Built in 1841, its décor hearkens back to Grecian mythological themes.  The boy and girl angels sculpted as white, Wedgwood-style cameos, highly popular at the time, surround a medusa’s head as they play with swirling scrolls. The angels’ foliated trunks blend into the delicate, rhythmic design. Today the pavilion is home to a television studio, Studio Gabriel.
